Anyone who works with a pipeline must have a NCCER Occupational Qualification “OQ” Certification and be re-certified every three years.
The Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) has adopted new regulations for the pipeline industry, in response to previous industrial accidents due to pipeline explosions and failures.
OSHA is now requiring that anyone who comes in contact with a pipeline must be certified by the National Center for Construction Education & Research.

Those affected by OSHA’s new rule include contractor employees, subcontractor employees, and anyone who performs covered tasks on a pipeline.
There are three ways to becoming pipeline operator qualified. You can receive your certification through assessment testing, classroom training, or performance verification.
